The Villanova women's water polo team has a new leader for the 2004 season in Paige Cull, a former standout player at Bucknell University. Her official hiring took place Aug. 15, 2003.
Cull has a deep background in water polo, playing each of her four years at Bucknell. She was an All-Conference performer in 2000 and 2001, and ironically, was the winner of the Allyson Gillespie Award in 2000. The award, named for the previous Villanova head coach, who also played at Bucknell, is designated for outstanding leadership and skills. In addition, Cull ended her career as the school's all-time leading goal scorer.
Cull went on to serve as a graduate assistant at Utica College, before accepting an assistant coaching position at her alma mater. She now takes over for Gillespie, who served as one of Cull's three head coaches during her time at Bucknell.
Cull is single, and resides in Ardmore, Pa. She recently accepted the position of Aquatics Director at the Roxborough YMCA in Philadelphia, in addition to her duties at Villanova.
