Jon Urbana Garners Men's Lacrosse All-American Honorable Mention
June 1, 2004 VILLANOVA, PA. - Junior defenseman Jon Urbana (Denver, Colo./Denver East) became just the fifth player in Villanova men's lacrosse history to earn All-American honors, garnering Honorable Mention status on Monday. This is the second straight year the Wildcats have had an honoree, as Brian Marks was recognized in 2003. An All-Colonial Athletic Association First Team selection, Urbana was also voted the league's Defensive Player of the Year. Urbana started 14 games for the Wildcats and anchored a defense that finished seventh in the country, allowing just 7.60 goals per game. Senior attackman Richie Kratz (Roxbury, N.J./Delbarton) and senior midfielder Matt Lucas (Gainesville, Va./Paul VI) were each selected to play in the 63rd North-South All-Star Classic as members of the South squad. An All-CAA Second Team honoree, Kratz started every game for the Wildcats this season and finished second on the team with 38 points (19g, 19a). Lucas was selected to the All-CAA First Team after tallying 20 goals and two assists to go along with 69 ground balls and a 49-percent face-off rating. Kratz and Lucas will be the 11th and 12th student-athletes to represent Villanova in the history of the game. The game will be played on Saturday, June 12, at 3 p.m. at Nazareth College in Rochester, New York.
Villanova finished the 2004 season with a 12-3 overall record.
