Career: Has been used mostly as a starter but was shifted to a late-inning relief role midway through his sophomore campaign ... Has started 17 of 32 collegiate appearances with a 5-8 record, four saves and a 5.02 ERA ... Pitched 123.2 innings, allowing 143 hits, 89 runs (69 earned) and walking 41 with 75 strikeouts ... 2007: Opened the season as a weekend starting pitcher and was shifted to the bullpen during the year to bolster the team's late-inning relief ... In 64.0 innings pitched allowed 79 hits and 37 earned runs while issuing 23 walks and striking out 41 ... Had a 3.60 ERA out of the bullpen and a team-best 3.99 ERA against BIG EAST opponents ... 2006: Began the season as a possible mid-week starter, but stepped into a much larger role due to an injury ... Stepped up to become the team's third starter in weekend series and showed outstanding potential in that role ... Appeared in 12 games on the season, starting in each of his last nine appearances ... Surrendered two earned runs or less in six of his nine starts but was the winning pitcher in just two of those games ... Owned a 2-5 record and 4.83 ERA ... Pitched 59.2 innings and allowed 64 hits while walking just 18 ... Struck out 34 and allowed 32 earned runs ... Went 2-4 with a 4.25 ERA in his eight Big East starts, averaging more than six innings per start ... Chosen as the Philadelphia Diamond Five Pitcher of the Week on May 8 after allowing just one run in eight innings in a win over Cincinnati ... Allowed a mere .233 opponent batting average with runners on base.
