Bob Steitz
Senior Associate AD/External Operations
Bob Steitz enters his fourth year as Villanova's Senior Associate Athletics Director for external operations in 2005. Steitz arrived at Villanova in 2002 from the Atlantic 10 Conference where he had been since 1990. Steitz served as Associate Commissioner a the Atlantic 10 since 1994 with his primary responsibilities being the Executive Producer of the Atlantic 10 Television Network, coordinating and implementing the league's marketing and television strategies, overseeing all aspects of the men's basketball tournament, and planning and implementing the conference's basketball and football schedules. Prior to being named Associate Commissioner, Steitz was the Assistant Commissioner from 1990 through 1994, and served as Acting Commissioner of the Atlantic 10 from March 1994 through June 1994. Before arrived at the Atlantic Conference, Steitz was the Associate Commissioner at the northeast Conference where he oversaw NCAA Compliance and was the Director of Championships. He began his career in college athletics at Fordham University where he was the Athletic Operations Coordinator for one year from 1982 to 1983. He was then promoted to Assistant Director of Athletics in August of 1983, a position he held until August of 1985 when he left to become Assistant Director of Athletics at Florida International University. Steitz has been a key figure on a number of athletic committees and currently serves on the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. He previously served as chair of the NCAA Honor Committee. Steitz has also played key roles in a number of different events: the 2001 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball East Regional, the 1992 Basketball Tournament of the America, the 1990 Goodwill Games, and the 1984 Summer Olympics Basketball Staff. A 1980 graduate of Springfield College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in health, Physical Education and recreation, Steitz when on to earn his Master's of Education Degree in Athletic Administration from Springfield in 1981. Steitz and his wife, Pam, reside in Blue Bell, Pa., with their eight-year-old daughter Jessica and four-year-old son Michael.
Mary Anne Dowling
Associate Athletics Director/Student Services
In her 27th year as a part of Villanova Athletics, Mary Anne Dowling begins her tenth year as Associate Athletics Director for Student Services. In this capacity, Dowling serves both the Wildcat student-athletes and the administration in a variety of functions. Her top priority is coordination Villanova's Student Services which is designed to counsel and advise all the Wildcat student-athletes during their stay at Villanova. In this role, she has instituted the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Awareness Program, oversees drug and alcohol education, conducts student-athlete ext interviews, and acts as a liaison with the Office of Academic Advising. Dowling graduated from West Chester State College in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education, and went on to earn a Master's Degree in Education from West Chester in 1975, where she was recently inducted in the West Chester University Hall of Fame. Prior to her most recent position at Villanova, Dowling had spent the majority of her time at Villanova as the Assistant Athletic Director for Women's and Club sports. Under her guidance, the Wildcat women's program grew from an AIAW Division I small college to national prominence in all NCAA Division I sports. Dowling and her husband, Jim, reside in Lansdowne, Pa. Dowling has two children, Kevin and Kristen.
Lynn Tighe
Senior Associate Athletics Director for Administration / Senior Women's Administrator
Lynn Tighe begins her eighth year at Villanova, after being named the Assistant Athletics Director and Senior Women's Administrator in November of 1998. In August 2000, Tighe earned a promotion to Associate Athletics Director. Tighe came to the Main Line from the American Basketball League's Philadelphia rage, where she served as the Director of Game Operations/Special Events and the Director of Merchandising from 1997-98. As the Director of Game Operations/Special Events, she was responsible for planning, coordinating and implementing of all game day presentations and special events. In addition, Tighe created and directed the merchandising department for the Rage. She is a 1987 graduate of Villanova University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics. A four-year member of the Wildcat women's basketball team, Tighe currently ranks second on the Villanova all-time assist list. The started point guard for three seasons, she helped lead the team to Big East Tournament titles and NCAA Tournament appearances in 1986 and 1987. Tighe was a first team All-Big NCAA performer as a senior in 1987. She was inducted into the Villanova Athletic Hall of Fame in November 1998 and to the Big Five hall of Fame in January 1998. Tighe returned to Villanova in 1987, as an assistant women's basketball coach for head coach Harry Perretta, a position she maintained until 1989. From 1989-91, she served as a volunteer assistant coach for the villanova women's basketball team. She is single and currently lives in Newtown Square, Pa.
Rev. Bob Hagan, O.S.A.
Associate AD
Entering his third year at Villanova University is Rev. Bob Hagan, O.S.A. Coming to Villanova as Assistant AS/Compliance two years ago, he was promoted to Associate AD in July 2004. Hagan became a solemnly professed member of the Order of Saint Augustine and was ordained to the Order of Diaconate in 2003. He received his Ordination to the Priesthood in September 2003. Graduating from Villanova University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987, Hagan went on to receive his J.D. from the Widener University School of Law in 1990. After receiving his J.D., Hagan spent seven years as an attorney at Gillen and Associates from 1990-97. He is a past member of the Philadelphia Bar Association, Delaware County Bar Association and the Delaware County Association of Criminal Defense lawyers. While at Gillin and Associates, Hagan served as Criminal Defense Counsel in addition to handling contract negotiations, arbitrations and mediations. He further served as Counsel to the Delaware County Solid Waste Authority and the Register of Wills in Delaware County. Hagan has extensive ministerial experience as well. He was hospital chaplain at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia in 2000. In addition, he spent time as a Pastoral Associate at our Lady of Good Counsel parish in Staten Island, N.Y., and a campus minister at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Dean Kenefick
Associate AD/Communications
Dean Kenefick begins his fourth year as Assistant Athletics Director for Communications in 2005. Kenefick had been the department's Director of Media Relations since 1998, before being promoted to Assistant Athletics Director in June 2002. Kenefick oversees all aspects of Villanova's Media relations Department. He is entering his ninth season as the contact for both the football and women's basketball programs in 2003. A 1994 graduate of Villanova with a B.S. degree in Secondary Education and a Minor in Geography, Kenefick earned a master's in Educations from Villanova in July of 1999. He was named Director of media Relations in the fall of 1998 after serving as the assistant director from 1995-98. He is single and resides in Drexel Hill, Pa.
Gordon C. Finch Esq.
Associate AD/Compliance
Gordon Finch enters his fourth year as Associate Athletics Director/Compliance at Villanova. In this capacity, he oversees all matters pertaining to compliance with National Collegiate Athletics Association rules and regulations. Finch comes to Villanova from the University of Connecticut, where he served in a similar capacity from March 2002 to August of 2004. Among his responsibilities were coordination and implementation of all aspects of compliance systems, the development and implementation of rules education for staff members and outside constituents regarding Big East and NCAA legislation. Prior to his tenure in Connecticut, Finch spent four years serving as a Membership Services Representative for the NCAA at its headquarters in both Kansas City and Indianapolis. Finch received a J.D. degree in 1994 from the University of Iowa College of Law. His areas of specialization included litigation, corporate, criminal and family law. He also holds Master of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Iowa and spent two years as a law clerk for the Honorable Douglas L. Richards in Faribault County, Minnesota. As an undergraduate, Finch was a track and field athlete at Iowa and owned the school record in the triple jump from 1988-90. He now resides in Coatesville. Finch and his wife, Julie, are the parents of two children, Katie (11) and Alex (9).
Brian Murray
Assistant AD/Business Operations
Brian Murray enters his 11th year as a member of the Villanova University Athletic Department and his first as an assistant athletic director in 2005. Murray is in charge of the department's financial affairs, manages the athletic budget and oversees the department travel office. Murray began his Villanova career as an intern in both the ticket office and equipment room from 1994-95. Following his two-year stint, he worked as an intern in the marketing office from 1995-96. His first full-time position came in 1996 when he was named coordinator for corporate finance. From there he was promoted to associate business manager where he worked from 1997-2000. In 2000, Murray became the department's business manager. He held this position until June of 2005 when he was named the assistant athletic director for business operations. A 1993 graduate of Villanova University, Murray earned a Bachelors Degree in liberal arts and minors in philosophy and computer science. He earned his Masters Degree in Business Administration from Villanova in 2002. Murray and his wife Michele reside in Chadds Ford, Pa. with their four-year old daughter Annabelle and one-year old daughter Colleen.
Mick Keelan
Assistant AD/Facilities & Operations
After spending the previous six years as Villanova's Director of Facilities & Operations, Mick Keelan was promoted to the position of Assistant Athletic Director in September of 2005. In this role, Keelan is responsible for the oversight of Villanova's athletic facilities and operations. One of his most significant assignments in 2005-06 is the planning of the new Intramural and Athletic Recreation Facility. Keelan earned his undergraduate degree in economics from Lafayette College in 1992, where he as also a pitcher on the baseball team. Following graduation, he joined the athletic operations staff at West Chester University. In 1994, he was awarded a Master's Degree by West Chester. He then returned to Lafayette as pitching coach on the baseball coaching staff for two years. In 1996, Keelan joined the University of Pennsylvania as coordinator of men's basketball operations. Following two years at Penn, Keelan was named Assistant Athletic Director at Fordham University, where he was responsible for the athletic facilities and operations. He arrived at Villanova in 1999. Keelan resides in Rosemont, Pa.
